Commissioner Brandon Kolo, a father and small business owner, joined the City Commission in September 2020. With a professional background emphasizing environmental sustainability and facility services, Brandon's commitment to community development is evident through his diverse professional and civic roles. His leadership within key organizations, such as the Oakland County Zoological Authority, the Detroit Zoological Society, and the Royal Oak Library Board, underscores his dedication to enhancing the community's quality of life. In 2023, his contributions were further recognized when County Executive Coulter honored him with the prestigious 40-under-40 award, highlighting his impactful leadership and vision for the future. 

During his tenure on the City Commission, Brandon has prioritized eco-friendly initiatives and active community engagement. His concerted efforts to support local businesses, enhance public spaces, and foster environmental stewardship demonstrate a comprehensive and thoughtful approach to governance. 

Brandon holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. He and his wife, Carly, have two young children and two playful dogs.
