Royal Oak Environmental Advisory Board

About Us

Adopted by the City Commission of the City of Royal Oak 9-28-2020 by Ord. No. 2020-11. (Chapter 64). The purpose of the Environmental Advisory Board shall be to advise and assist the environmental sustainability efforts of all city staff, boards, and commissions, and community members. The Environmental Advisory Board shall make recommendations to the city commission on all issues concerning city environmental sustainability efforts defined as, any policies, programs, projects, initiatives, or events related to the energy waste reduction, climate, air quality, water, waste, resilience, and/or other sustainability issues that improve quality of life and protect the environment.

If a Royal Oak resident has a problem or question regarding recycling pick up they should call the Royal Oak Department of Public Service at 248-246-3300.

This board meets on the fourth Wednesday of Sept., Oct., Nov., Jan., Feb., March, April, and May at 7:00 p.m. at the Mahany / Meininger Senior Center. See below calendar links for additional details. 

Board Makeup

The Board shall consist of twelve voting members who have experience or interest in environmental sustainability efforts. One of the twelve voting members shall be a member of the city commission. The Department of Public Service and Recreation Director and Energy and Sustainability Manager shall serve as an co ex-officio nonvoting members of the board.  All voting board members shall be residents appointed by the city commission for three-year terms. Students are eligible to sit on this board.
