Friends of Fungi
There are monthly public walks from April through October. The walks are usually held on the 4th Saturday of the month. For the walk schedule, please visit our Nature Walks Page. The walks are free and preregistration is not required.
The Friends of Fungi Mycology Club and the Nature Society will hold a joint program on Wednesday, January 9th, 2019, at the Royal Oak Middle School (709 N. Washington) beginning at 7:30 pm. The program, “Fungi Fundamentals,” will be presented by Mary Fredricks, the Nature Society mycologist. This is an introduction to the amazingly diverse group of organisms that include the mushrooms that you put on your pizza, the morels your neighbor finds in a secret spot and raves about, the crusts covering logs in the woods, the strange growths in your lawn that appear after a rain, and much more. The program is free and preregistration is not required.
“The Friends of Fungi Mycology Club” will meet on Wednesday, February 13th and March 13th, 2019 at the Royal Oak Senior Center (3500 Marais) beginning at 7:00 pm. There is no pre-registration or cost for this program. Everyone is welcome.
If you are interested in more information, please contact Mary Fredricks.
