Friends of Fungi
There are monthly public walks from April through October. The walks are usually held on the 4th Saturday of the month. For the walk schedule, please visit our Nature Walks Page. The walks are free and preregistration is not required.
“The Friends of Fungi Mycology Club” will meet on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019 at the Royal Oak Senior Center (3500 Marais) beginning at 7:00 pm. The program will feature the video “Spirits of the Forest,” an entertaining documentary on Taylor Lockwood’s worldwide search for bioluminescent (glow-in-the-dark) mushrooms. Lockwood is an internationally renowned photographer of fungi who dispenses information with a light hand. There is no preregistration or cost for this program. Everyone is welcome.
“The Friends of Fungi Mycology Club” will meet on Wednesday, March 13th, 2019 at the Royal Oak Senior Center (3500 Marais) beginning at 7:00 pm. There will be an open discussion of the importance of fungi in the natural world and the ways in which people are trying to harness their capabilities to solve some of our most difficult problems, including oil spills and climate change. The discussion will be facilitated by Mary Fredricks, RO Nature Society mycologist, and Karen Blenc, Mary’s trainee. There is no preregistration or cost, and everyone is welcome.
