Transportation Van

Clean and Green for Seniors

Royal Oak's new electric van will help older adults get around town while keeping the air cleaner and using less energy!

Thanks to funding from the Department of Energy’s Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program, Royal Oak has added a fully electric van to its fleet—100% funded through a reimbursable voucher! This investment supports Royal Oak's goal of reducing GHG emissions by 40% by 2030 and aligns with our Sustainability & Climate Action Plan to transition to cleaner, more efficient transportation.

By replacing gas-powered vehicles with EVs, we’re cutting emissions, improving air quality, and reducing operational costs—all while supporting a greener, healthier, and more sustainable Royal Oak.

Food Scraps Only

We’re Making Composting Easier!

Bring your compost to the WEST porch of the farmers market between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Look for the bright green bins!

WHAT CAN GO IN THE BIN:

Acceptable materials include food scraps, BPI* certified materials, coffee and tea. (Download the Royal Oak Recycling Guide (PDF).)

KEEP THESE OUT!

🚫 Plastic & metal

🚫 Non-BPI certified food containers

🚫 Plastic bags are our biggest problem—please bring your compost in a compostable bag or a reusable bucket.

*The Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) checks if a material can break down safely in compost. If something is BPI-certified, it means it has been tested to make sure it composts properly.
