Meet Raider: Our Newest Team Member and First Comfort Dog!

The Royal Oak Police Department is thrilled to introduce “Raider,” its newest hire and the department’s first comfort dog! Raider is a 19-month-old, 60-pound black Labrador Retriever who joined us as a “career change” dog.

Comfort dogs like Raider are specially trained to support individuals and communities in various ways. Raider will assist community members coping with traumatic events, strengthen community engagement, and provide much-needed support to our department employees.

We’re all excited for Raider to start making a positive impact in our community!

The City of Royal Oak currently has more than 20 openings on various boards and committees, and we're looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us in shaping the future.
