Water Main Break

WATER MAIN BREAK

There is a large water main break in the Fourth Street and Campbell Road area. The Department of Public Services (DPS) crew is on-site working diligently to repair the issue, with an expected completion time of midnight tonight.

Traffic Alert: Fourth Street is closed at Wilson. Please avoid the area if possible and seek alternative routes.

Do You Have Cloudy Water?

For residents experiencing cloudy water, here are five important things to know:

  1. Cause of Cloudy Water: Water can appear cloudy or rusty whenever there is a large draw of water during water main breaks.
  2. Mineral Deposits: Naturally occurring mineral deposits that accumulate within the water main can get stirred up, causing discoloration.
  3. Safety: Discolored water is temporary and not harmful, though it may be unappealing.
  4. Clearing the Water: Run the cold water faucet closest to your meter (usually in the basement or outside hose bib) for several minutes until the water runs clear. If your water is still cloudy on Monday, call Public Service at (248) 246-3300.
  5. What to Avoid: Do not run hot water or wash clothes while the water is discolored.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to resolve this issue. Stay safe and plan your routes accordingly!
