2020 Construction Projects

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. CAP1909 MDOT 14 Mile Road Resurfacing

Contractor: Florence Cement Company

Greenfield to Woodward: One lane is open in each direction on the outside lanes of the roadway for Phase III of construction.

Woodward to Crooks: The south half of 14 Mile Road is currently closed for Phase III of construction with traffic shifted to the north side of the roadway. One travel lane is open in each direction.

The contractor is now on the final stage of the project, Phase III. This week the contractor will be placing the top layer of pavement on the south half of the roadway and begin back-filling behind the curbing.

CAP2003 Downtown Streetscape & Street Lighting Improvements

Contractor: Audia Construction, Inc.

This week the contractor is working at the following locations, removing paver stones and pouring stamped, colored concrete:

Main Street, north and south of Lincoln
Washington Avenue, south of Lincoln
Allenhurst Avenue, between Main and Washington

The contractor will also begin work on the street lighting along Fourth Street between Main Street and Washington Avenue.

CAP2010 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting, Inc.

The city's contractor has been authorized to use the northeast section of VFW Park for construction staging and material storage. The area will be fenced off for public safety. Vehicles will enter/exit using Campbell Road and Sixth Street. Once the project is complete, the disturbed areas will be re-graded and restored with topsoil and seed. The contractor will also make some park improvements by planting new trees and installing new picnic tables.

Fifth Street - This week the contractor is replacing the roadway at the Irving intersection. This area will be closed to thru traffic approximately 2 weeks. The contractor will also be adjusting drainage structures in preparation to mill the roadway between Knowles and Kayser, which is scheduled for next week.

Seventh Street - This week the contractor will be adjusting drainage structures in preparation to mill the roadway, which is scheduled for next week.

S. Rembrandt Avenue - The contractor will be replacing sidewalks and driveway approaches on the east side of the street and adjusting drainage structures in preparation for milling roadway, which is scheduled for next week.

S. Altadena Avenue - The contractor will finish replacing curbing, driveway approaches, sidewalks and ramps on the east side of the roadway and adjusting drainage structures in preparation for milling roadway, which is scheduled for next week.

S. Vermont Avenue - This week the contractor will perform the final water main connections and then begin work on pavement restoration.

Helene Avenue - The contractor is continuing clean-up and restoration work this week.

Longfellow Avenue - The contractor will finish addressing private water services that are lead or galvanized this week. Once complete, the contractor will schedule the final water main connection. Any residents affected will receive a door hanger in advance with the date, time and duration of the shut-off.

11 Mile Road - Water main installation is finishing up this week. Then the new water main will undergo testing.

Farnum Avenue - Work is tentatively scheduled to begin the third week of September. The new water main will be installed via directional drilling and there will be intersection closures at the following locations to allow for water main installation:

E. Farnum Avenue & N. Dorchester Avenue intersection
E. Farnum Avenue & N. Kenwood Avenue intersection

Residents on Dorchester Avenue will still be able to enter/exit their block via Forest Avenue to the north and residents of Kenwood Avenue will be able to enter/exit via University Avenue or 11 Mile Road to the south.

CAP2015 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries

Paving on all the project streets is now complete. This week the contractor will be working on back-filling, grading and landscape restoration.

CAP2035 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc

Knowles Street, Chester Road, Hillside Drive, Massoit Road, Delaware Avenue & Lenox Avenue - The contractor will be working on clean up and landscape restoration this week.

Crane Avenue - The contractor finishing the new concrete work this week.

CAP1941 11 Mile Road and 13 Mile Road
Traffic Signal Improvements

Contractor: Dan's Excavating

13 Mile Road - The contractor is continuing work this week at the Main Street intersection and the Crooks Road intersection. There will be single lane closures as needed to allow for construction operations.
