2020 Engineering Division Construction Projects


Use the map above to see if a project is affecting your street. The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. CAP1909 MDOT 14 Mile Road Resurfacing

Contractor: Florence Cement Company


The north half of 14 Mile Road is currently closed for the second phase of construction with traffic shifted to the south side of the roadway. One travel lane is open in each direction. Left turns are prohibited at several side streets along the corridor.


The week of July 27th, the contractor plans to finish conditioning the new HMA pavement, weather permitting.

CAP2005 Concrete Street Repairs

Contractor: Italia Construction, Inc.


The contractor will be going south to north on the various project streets, working on several streets at once. They will be working on one side of the street at a time to maintain access throughout construction. Signs stating 'No Parking 7am - 8pm' will be placed by the contractor as necessary.

The week of July 27th, the contractor will be working on the project streets between Main Street and Rochester Road, north of 12 Mile Road. The contractor is cutting out specified deteriorated sections of road pavement and restoring with new concrete, working on one side of the street at a time.

CAP2010 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting, Inc.


The city's contractor has been authorized to use the northeast section of VFW Park for construction staging and material storage. The area will be fenced off for public safety. Vehicles will enter/exit using Campbell Road and Sixth Street. Once the project is complete, the disturbed areas will be re-graded and restored with topsoil and seed. The contractor will also make some park improvements by planting new trees and installing new picnic tables.

Fifth Street - The week of July 27th, the contractor plans to continue pouring new driveway approaches between Knowles and and Kayser. Once poured it takes approximately 7-10 days for the new concrete to cure before it can be driven on. Once complete concrete restoration will begin between Irving and Alexander.

S. Rembrandt Avenue - The contractor will continue addressing individual services that are lead or galvanized and finish transferring water services within the alley. Once complete the final connections will be scheduled. The contractor expects to begin removals and grading for the new roadway and driveway approaches by mid-week.

Seventh Street - The contractor will be pouring the new driveway approaches and curbing. Once poured it takes approximately 7-10 days for the new concrete to cure before it can be driven on.

S. Altadena Avenue - This week the contractor will continue addressing water services that are lead or galvanized. Once complete the two final water main connections will be scheduled. Affected residents will be notified the day beforehand, via door hanger, with the shut off time and duration.

S. Vermont Avenue - The contractor will begin transferring individual water services to the new main this week and addressing lead or galvanized services.

Helene Avenue - The east side of Helene Avenue, at Brockton Avenue and Dallas Avenue, will be closed for approximately 2-3 weeks while new concrete is poured and cured. The contractor will be restoring these two intersections in halves, instead of quarters, to help expedite the project prior to school beginning. The contractor will also be restoring the northeast corner of Barrett & Helene mid-week, but traffic will still be able to proceed through the intersection with caution.

Alternative Route: For residents of Brockton and Dallas, use Stephenson Highway to Barrett Avenue to head west out of the neighborhood.

Longfellow Avenue - The new water main is installed and will undergo testing this week.

The week of July 27th, the contractor will continue working on landscape restoration.

CAP2015 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries


Phase 1 Streets - The contractor is continuing landscape restoration the week of July 27th.

The northeast corner of Sunset Boulevard and Woodsboro Drive will be restored today.

Phase 2 Streets –  Removal work is continuing this week with driveway approaches and curbing on the west side of Linwood, south of Carmen. Removal crews will then move to the west side of Ferncliff, and then on to Woodland. Residents will be notified the day beforehand, via door hanger, if they will lose access to their driveway.

New curbing and approaches will also be poured on the west side of Linwood this week. Once poured it takes approximately 7-10 days for the new concrete to cure before it can be driven on.

Remaining sidewalks ramps on Woodslee will be poured early this week.

NOTE: In case of extreme high temperatures, the city will allow the contractor to begin pouring new concrete at 6:00 a.m. instead of 7:00 a.m. If this happens, residents of the block will receive a notice the day beforehand via door hanger. Concrete removal operations would still not be allowed to begin until 7:00 a.m.

CAP2009 Lincoln Avenue Resurfacing

Lincoln Avenue from Woodward Avenue to Lafayette Avenue

Contractor: Asphalt Specialists, Inc


Work on Lincoln is mostly complete, and has been re-opened to traffic. The contractor will be working on landscape restoration and clean up this week.

CAP2035 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc


Knowles Street - The contractor plans to finish setting permeable paver stones the week of July 27th. The contractor will also be prepping and pouring sidewalks, ramps and approaches. Once poured it takes approximately 7-10 days for the new concrete to cure before it can be driven on. 

Chester Road, Delaware Avenue & Hillside Drive - The contractor plans to prep and pour new driveway approaches and sidewalks this week.

Lenox Avenue and Massoit Road - the contractor plans to joint-seal the new roadways this week. This is typically a one day operation that creates a fair amount of dust. Once finished the contractor will clean the street.

The contractor will be finishing foundation work this week at the 11 Mile Road & Center Street intersection and the 11 Mile Road & Washington Avenue intersection. Once complete, they will begin foundation work along the 13 Mile Road corridor.
