Bremer, Mary; devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother; age 77; passed on Sunday, January 11, 2015. She was born Mary Elizabeth Welch on May 12, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Russell and Betty (nee Bird) Welch. In 1957, she married her husband of nearly 49 years, the late Russell Bremer, spending the majority of their married lives as residents of Oxford, where they were longtime members of the Oxford United Methodist Church. Mary worked for many years as the bookkeeper for the Smith Silo Company and then later at the Bellairs station and garage. Mary was well known in the community and until she moved from the area, she was very active in her church. Mary loved her family and friends, as well as enjoying many hobbies, including sewing, knitting, scrap booking, collecting, and baking, but was particularly known for her love of all things apples. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; and their daughter, Mary Beth. She is survived by her sister, Linda; son, Lee Bremer (Kim); daughter, Amy (Swanson) (Carl); and her six grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Brandon, Samantha, Jason; and Amanda; and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be at the Lynch & Sons Funeral Home in Oxford on Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m. with Services Sunday, at Oxford United Methodist Church at 1 p.m., January 18, 2015.
