SEELBINDER, ELMER RAYMOND; of Ortonville, formerly of Windover Lake; died March 1, 2015. He was 93. Born February 16, 1922 in Goodrich, Michigan to the late Edwin and Rosa Seelbinder. He married the former Mary Lou Beattie on June 28, 1947 at Christ Lutheran Church in Hadley Twp. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2015 after 67 years of marriage. He is survived by 7 children, Tom Seelbinder, Jane (Ernie) Ludwig, Ray Seelbinder, John (Nancy) Seelbinder, Nancy (Jack) Smith, Caroline (Brian) Hendrickson and David (Kelly) Seelbinder; 1 brother, Arnold (Mary) Seelbinder; and 1 sister, Elnor Paslean; 15 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roland (Edna) and John Seelbinder. Elmer was a veteran of the United States Army W.W.II having served in Company “B” 27th Armored Infantry Battalion and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was founder and owner of Ortonville Tire & Battery, which he sold in 1970. He became a real estate agent in Ortonville and later in Clare County. He was a dedicated husband and father who loved organic gardening, playing the harmonica and enjoying the great outdoors. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church 5245 Hadley Rd., Goodrich. Pastor Kelly Todd, officiating. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly where Military Honors will be provided. Family will receive friends at COATS VILLAGE FUNERAL HOME-ORTONVILLE on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
