With 4000 courses available, Pronunciator gives Royal Oak patrons access to 80 Languages. The languages range from Afrikaans to Mongolian to Xhosa (and more in between). These language courses are available in English as well as many other languages.
Know someone who needs to learn English? Pronunciator also provides ESL courses in 50 different languages to help learn and improve English language skills.
The Royal Oak Public Library offers large print books, audiobooks, downloadable books and adaptive equipment to assist patrons with special vision needs. Librarians are available to help anyone wishing to browse these collections or use this equipment.
Each year the Royal Oak Public Library compiles a list of places that can provide assistance for the following: Temporary day and overnight shelter; groceries; meals; clothing; referrals; transportation; and housing.

The Royal Oak Public Library's Preschool Information Night will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016, from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at Northwood Elementary School in Royal Oak. If the schools are closed on February 1 due to inclement weather, a "rain date" for the event will be held on Monday, February 8. This event provides an opportunity for parents to talk to representatives and gather information about preschools and child care facilities.

MeLCat requesting will be temporarily turned off at 12:01 AM on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in preparation for an upcoming site migration and upgrade. Users can continue to search MeLCat but the request option will be unavailable. The service is expected to be restored by December 11.
