Kunze, Frederick, age 89 years young, of Casa Grande, Arizona, passed away on October 20, 2014, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He will always be remembered for his willingness to help others and his quirky sense of humor. Everyone he met became a friend. Fred is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy Kunze of Casa Grande, Arizona; his sons, Emil Kunze of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Raymond Kunze of Euless, Texas; his daughter, Janine Balding of Casa Grande, Arizona; and his brother, Donald Kunze of Madison Heights, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Charles Kunze and William Kunze both of Hazel Park, Michigan. Fred was born in Hazel Park, Michigan on March 6, 1925, to Charles and Esther Kunze. He was a proud member of “the Greatest Generation” and served in the United States Army during World War II participating in the D-Day landing at Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. After his military service Fred worked for the United States Post Office where he logged millions of miles on foot delivery around Hazel Park. One of his postal patrons became his wife. After delivering mail he could often be found helping his patrons by fixing roofs, cutting trees, or doing many other jobs. Upon his retirement in 1980 the couple moved to Casa Grande where they lived year-round to enjoy snow-free weather and gardening. No services are being held. To remember Fred the family requests donations to Veterans’ organizations.Published in Daily Tribune on Oct. 29, 2014+Read More Share Listen to Obituary Remember Share a message, photo, or video below View guest book What will you miss most about Frederick Kunze?
