She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University in Health Sciences. Cheryl served as a nurse for over 30 years caring for people in a variety of capacities. Cheryl’s true calling was hospice nursing, where she ministered to many patients and their families. During her nursing career, she divided her time between Michigan and Georgia. She considered herself a part-time Southerner as evidenced by her love for bluegrass music and grits. Cheryl was an avid animal lover and boat nerd. She enjoyed biking, travel, and spent many hours connecting with friends and family on her iPad. Cheryl faced her grim diagnosis with faith, good cheer, and stubborn gladness. She found joy every day in the simple things. She was a true example to those around her, and God’s grace shined through her each and every day. It was a true blessing to Cheryl, and to her family, that the hospice care she received over the last several months was provided by many of her dear personal friends and colleagues. Her family expresses their deep gratitude to the staff at Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
