The art exhibition will coincide with the dedication of Royal Oak Public Library Butterfly Garden Dedication Ceremony on June 23, 2012. Names of participating artists will be included in the Butterfly Garden Dedication program.

 

Who: Open to youth ages 2 - 19 years who live in Royal Oak or attend Royal Oak schools. One submission per person.

 

Criteria: Recent 2D and low relief artwork only, including but not limited to drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, printmaking, collage and digital art relating to the theme “Butterfly Garden 2012”. Artwork must be presentable and ready for display. No frames.

 Due to space constraints, size of artwork is limited to 18" x 24". Artwork must be suitable for family viewing.

When/Where: Artwork is to be delivered in person to the Royal Oak Library Youth Activity Room on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, or on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 noon (park free at the Farmers' Market on Saturday during market hours) with the completed application form above. Artwork will be on display at the library June 9 - June 27, 2012.

Pick up artwork on Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, or on Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 noon in the Youth Activity room.

Art Class: Not sure what to make? Come to the library on Tuesdays, May 1 and/or May 8 at 7:00 PM in the Youth Activity Room to create a butterfly art project and enter it in the exhibition. Fluttering fun guaranteed!
