Yes, Royal Oak Library Patrons have access to downloadable ebooks and audiobooks through Overdrive. There are many different types of devices that you may use including Kindle and Nook. To begin, only Royal Oak residents with a current library card beginning with the 29065 prefix are eligible. If your card has expired or begins with a different prefix such as 29082, you will need to come in and have your card updated. You will be required to show identification.
Next you visit our home page at ropl.org, and over to the right side of the screen there is a blue box that says "Looking for eBooks for your eReader." There you will find information about our downloadable eBook and Audiobook service through Overdrive, including help pages, descriptions of eligible devices, information on checking out books and more.
If you have any further questions, you may contact the adult reference desk at 248-246-3727, or each Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Eric Hayes, our IT Coordinator/Webmaster will answer any questions you have regarding any computer related device, etc. Eric is currently away, but the sessions will begin again on Monday, June 4, 2012.
