Take a break, sit back, and enjoy live music at the Royal Oak Public Library! Join us on Saturday, November 10 at 3:00 PM for our music program ‘S Wonderful, a tribute to the music of George and Ira Gershwin. Both George and Ira wrote many of the finest American popular songs and orchestral pieces: Rhapsody in Blue, An American in Paris and songs I Got Rhythm, Embraceable You, The Man I Love, Someone to Watch Over Me, Summertime, and many other songs which are instantly recognizable. Their music and words have an enduring popularity. The Gershwin’s opera/musical Porgy and Bess, first performed in 1935, was recently revived on Broadway and was the 2012 Tony-Award winner for a best musical revival.

Soprano Diana Turner and baritone John DeMerell will perform numerous Gershwin songs, accompanied by Martin Mandelbaum on keyboard. Martin will also perform several piano solos.
