Royal Oak sadly does not have a decent downtown park. Right in front of our library is a walkway with a few benches, the butterfly garden, and the city's only working water attraction facing one lone bench donated in the memory of the late Mr.Hurlbut founder of our city's renowned "nutrifoods" downtown. We really need more benches around the fountain and along the Main street entrance to attract us to sit down and read a book, a newspaper, play a musical instrument. A couple of chess and checker tables and a children's swing would be nice. If you have the time please attend and inform the library board, the park's commission, the city commission and state your wish to improve our neglected mini park including the memorial and the Stardream Fountain visable from Main and Troy. I wish the DDA would step foward once again, its been years. - Ronald Wolf

The Library is still awaiting the park passes and will have them out for the public as soon as they are available. To acquire a pass from Royal Oak Public Library, an ROPL card is required. There are more than 400 participating libraries, though. - Eric Hayes
