Join us on Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00 PM for a presentation by Dr. Jim McConnell about the War of 1812 and Michigan’s involvement. Dr. McConnell is a humanities scholar and Secretary and Project Coordinator of the Michigan Commission on Commemoration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812.

Come find out why the city of Detroit fell during the War of 1812 and why it took so long for the United States to regain control of the city. Learn about other events that took place in Michigan during the war as well as the people who were instrumental in fighting the war. And learn the answer to the most pressing question of all – was the War of 1812 an American victory or a defeat?

Join us in the Friends Auditorium as Dr. McConnell takes us on a journey back to the War of 1812 in Michigan, and beyond.

Registration is requested. Fill out the form below or call the adult reference desk at 248-246-3727. Sponsored by the Friends of the Royal Oak Public Library.
