Among the programs featuring our adult summer reading theme will be a Saturday, August 14 visit from Michigan Notable Book Author Jeff Alexander, who will discuss his 2010 book Pandora's Locks: The Opening of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway, which examines the building of the seaway and its environmental impact on the entire Great Lakes region, including the introduction of invasive marine species. If you are concerned about Michigan's natural environment, you will not want to miss Alexander's 1:30 PM talk in the Friends Auditorium.
