Take a break, sit back, and enjoy live music at the Royal Oak Public Library!

Join us on Tuesday, May 1 at 7:00 PM in the Friends Auditorium as we remember the sesquicentennial of the Civil War, 1861 – 1865. Artists from the Bellini Opera Theatre will present a lecture and perform songs written by the forefathers of American music.

Songs by Stephen Foster, Oh! Susanna, Beautiful Dreamer, My Old Kentucky Home, Louis Lambert, When Johnny Comes Marching Home and the traditional song Oh, Shenandoah will be performed. A tribute to the fallen soldiers of the Civil War, including Taps, America, America the Beautiful, and Battle Hymn of the Republic will also take place.

Baritone Dino Valle will be accompanied by pianist Martin Mandelbaum. Dino is a native of Italy and studied at various universities. He is founder of many opera organizations, including the Bellini Opera Theatre. Dino has performed in many operas and concerts in the United States and Europe.

Pianist Martin Mandelbaum has performed extensively in the Detroit area with orchestras and in solo and chamber music performances.
