Mr. Richard "Dick" Reihm

Richard (Dick) Reihm age 85 passed away October 10 2012. Survived by wife Joan Reihm (nee Elfie); daughters Robyn Javornisky (Marty) Tracie Reihm; grandchildren Grace Joan Reihm Andrew Javornisky (Sarah) Laura Gladman (Cayne); great-grand child Avalon Gladman and his sister Shirlie Barth (Hugh). Dick was born in Highland Park Michigan and spent the first 60 years of his life in the suburbs of Detroit. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 at the tail end of World War II. He was assigned to the USS Indianapolis and right before the ship went out to sea he got ill and was put in the hospital. There were angels watching out for him because shortly after that the Indianapolis was bombed and sunk. There were very few survivors. Dick had an incredibly interesting career as an artist and video producer. He was also extremely involved in the community serving in many capacities Member of the Ferndale School Board Member of the Ferndale Boosters Club President of Ridgedale Players President of the Detroit Producer's Association and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Historical Committee. Dick and Joan relocated to Orlando Florida in the late 1980's. Dick was fascinated by so many things movies theatre and travel. Most of all he enjoyed his family and many friends. Dick was consistently full of gratitude and optimism and always had a big smile for everyone. Throughout his illness and rehabilitation the nurses and doctors often commented on how "pleasant" he was to work with. A true gentleman to the end!
