Mr. Robert Henry Pettit (1931-2012)

Robert Henry Pettit age 81 of Drummond Island Mich. died October 15 2012 at home. He was born March 4 1931 in Flint Mich. the son of Roy Fred and Marjorie (Brannack) Pettit. Robert grew up in Ferndale where he graduated from St. James Catholic High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. After his service he began working as a machinist for companies supplying the automotive industry. After living most of his life in the Ferndale and Mount Clemens areas; he moved to Drummond Island about 5 years ago to live near two of his sons. Robert was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale American Legion Post 198 in Lewiston and Post 330 in Ferndale the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Drummond Island Moose Lodge #2381. He enjoyed boating camping hunting and fishing and most of all spending time with his family. Robert is survived by eight children Robert J. (Donna) Pettit of Colorado Springs Colo. Paul F. (Gerry) Pettit of Lewiston Mich. John C. (Linda Docksteder) of Colorado Springs James E. (Lisa Ellis) Pettit of Drummond Island Mary C. (Ron) Obey of West Branch Mich. Thomas V. (Richard Flowers) Pettit of Lake City MI Michael J. (Julie Kurkierewicz) Pettit of Drummond Island and Christine M. (Ralph) Fulmore of Brandon Fla.; sixteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Marilyn Pettit of Chicago IL and Marjorie Sullivan of Royal Oak Mich.; and brother Ronald (Margaritte) Pettit of Gladwin Mich. Robert was preceded in death by his first wife Frances E. (Lederman) Pettit; his second wife Audrey Mary (Pape) Pettit; son-in-law Garland L. Lemorie; brother Roy Pettit; sister Maryanne Costigan; brothers-in-law John Sullivan and Richard Costigan; and sister-in-lawWilma Pettit. A Memorial service is being planned for Father's Day Weekend 2013 at the American Legion Post 198 in Lewiston Mich. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 198 P.O.
