Eric Hill Wayne died February 5 2012 Silver Spring Md. Born March 31 1947. Eric grew up in Royal Oak with enthusiasms for the Tigers and the Red Wings. After graduating from Royal Oak Dondero High School in 1965 he majored in economics at the University of Michigan and went on the Junior Year Abroad Program in Aix-en-Provence France. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in 1969 and a Master's degree in French in 1970 he was drafted into the U.S. Army. A fortunate Vietnam-era draftee he ended up at Schofield Barracks outside Honolulu. Returning to Ann Arbor after his military service Eric earned a doctorate in French surrealist poetry and later an Master's in Business Administration in international finance at NYU. He moved to the Washington D.C. area in 1976 working as a bilingual secretary at the World Bank and then in a variety of jobs at the Library of Congress until the effects of MS made employment impossible. However he then focused on his interests in recorded classical music and French culture and modern history. Trips to hear the Cleveland Orchestra replaced trips to Belgium and France. He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years Margaret N. Wayne; his mother Elizabeth Wayne now of Kensington Md; and many friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cleveland Orchestra or to the MS .
