Bessie L. Johnstone age 101 of Royal Oak died Thursday January 12 2012. She was born April 12 1910 in Birmingham to Ralph and Lulu Johnson. Mrs. Johnstone graduated from Clawson High School and was a member of several organizations including Royal Oak Chapter 392 O.E.S. Royal Court 14 Order of Amaranth Royal Oak Shrine 31 W.S.J. Daughters of the Nile D.A.R. Royal Oak Women's Club and the First United Methodist Church Royal Oak. Surviving are her children Stewart of Oscoda James (Hazel) of Corbin Ky. and Donald (Neva) of Rochester Hills; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Stewart in 1991 and by her son John in 1993. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday January 28 2012 at the First United Methodist Church 320 W.
