Charles R. Foyle age 87 a longtime resident of Royal Oak died Friday December 2 2011 in Royal Oak. He was born July 11 1924 in Fairhope Pennsylvania to John and Mary. Mr. Foyle enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and was the first student to graduate in uniform from Lincoln High School in January 1943. He attended Amherst College in Massachusetts during basic training and was part of the CBI Theater during World War II. Charles enrolled at Michigan State University under the GI Bill and graduated in 1949 with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. He enjoyed PBS Television and was an avid Spartan fan and longtime football season ticket holder. During his career as a General Superintendent for various construction companies he was involved in many projects including Fisher Theatre Cobo Hall Pontiac Motors Administration Building and Somerset Mall. Survived by children Kathryn (Thomas Sorensen) Larry (Judy) and David (Kathleen); grandchildren Kelly Marisa Leah and Conor; sister Margaret Reid; sister-in-law Agnes White; nephew John "Steve" (Linda) Reid and his children Heather and Jason and many extended family and friends. Predeceased by wife Margaret and granddaughter Anna Sorensen. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion ALS Association of Michigan or PBS Television.
