Pearl M. Friend age 88 a 45-year resident of Southfield died November 1 2011 at Beaumont Health System in Royal Oak. She was born September 19 1923 in Royal Oak to the late Clark and Mary Smith. Mrs. Friend was born and raised in Royal Oak and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 239 in Farmington. She is survived by her daughters Gerry (Dr. Thomas) Magnell of Orchard Lake Village and Sandra (Henry) Forfa of South Lyon; brother David Bell of Kalkaska; grandsons Jeffrey Magnell and Stanley Forfa; and great-grandchildren Sydney and Ian Magnell. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur S. Friend in 1971. The visitation will be Friday 2-8 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home 705 W. 11 Mile Road (4 blocks E. of Woodward) Royal Oak. Mrs. Friend will lie in state Saturday 10:30 a.m. until the time of service 11 a.m. at Nardin Park United Methodist Church 29887 W. 11 Mile Road (west of Middlebelt) Farmington Hills with the Rev. Dr. Dale Miller officiating. The burial will take place Monday 10 a.m. at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak.
