Stuart R. Skelley, 90, a 60-year Royal Oak resident, died April 9, 2008, at his home. He was born Oct. 26, 1917, in Hastings, Neb. Mr. Skelley was a World War II U.S. Air Corps veteran. He owned Baker and Collinson in Detroit, where he began working at 19, ultimately becoming president of the company in 1968. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F & AM and a former member of the Royal Oak Lions Club. He was a founding member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Royal Oak, a 30-year member of First Presbyterian Church in Royal Oak. He was also a 28-year member of the Red Run Country Club in Royal Oak and the Acme Golf Club in Elk Rapids. Mr. Skelley enjoyed bowling, golfmg, baseball, writing and traveling. Mr. Skelley is survived by his wife, Beverly Skelley, whom he married May 24,1996; his children, Carol Helene (Walter J.) Blanton of Las Vegas and the Revs. Joan (Roger) SkelleyWatts of Vermilion, Ohio; stepchildren Robert (Melanie) Wydra of Detroit, Amy C. (Stephen) Cleary of Farmington Hills, Dan (Lorraine) Wydra of Escanaba, Beth (Lawrence) Baker of Royal Oak and Jennifer Wydra of Farmington; grandchildren Andrew (Katie) Watts and Kathryn E. Skelley-Watts; and step-grandchildren Kyle Wydra, Jacob Wydra, Madeline Cleary, Ian Cleary, Charlie Baker, Dane Baker, Samuel Baker and Tessa Baker. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen A. Skelley, July 17,1992. Mr. Skelley will lie in state Saturday, 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service, at First Presbyterian Church, Royal Oak. Burial at Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak.
