Sheila Nancy Robertson, 86, an Oak Park resident since 1964, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Woodward Hills Nursing Home, Bloomfield Hills. She was born July 30, 1921, in Indianapolis. She spent her childhood in Brechin, Scotland, before moving to Windsor and Detroit in her teen years. She worked at Willow Run as a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II. Miss Roberston also built her own house on Grosse Ile. She retired from Michigan Bell as a switchboard operator. She loved to travel around the country in her VW Bug with her dog, Betsy, and enjoyed camping with friends. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her nieces, Sandy (Don) Berezin, Sheila (John) Deming, Martha (Ron) Van Dyke, June Robertson (Patty) and Janet (Norman) Dell; great-nieces and great-nephews, Main, Ryan, Jacob, Justin, Denaand Michael; and dear family and friends, Grace and Jane Bloss, Marie Gregory, Michelle (Steve) Heller, Gary Gregory (John), Dorothy Valentine and Rocky Reeves. She was predeceased by her brothers, Phillip and David; infant sister, Mary Isabelle June; and friends, Otto and Louise Dietz. Visitation is Thursday from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. service at Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 W.12 Mile Road, Berkley. Interment will be at Mount Joy Cemetery, Haynes Township.
