Harvey L. Raschke, 86, of Rochester Hills, formerly of Madison Heights, died March 8, 2008, at Medilodge of Rochester Hills after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born Sept. 21, 1921, to the late Fred and Emma Raschke. Mr. Raschke was a Madison Heights resident for 49 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 103rd Infantry Division in France and Germany. He was also a member of VFW Post 9507 in Madison Heights. Mr. Raschke retired after 35 years of service as vice president and chief underwriter for Gleaner Life Insurance Society, Adrian. He held a master's degree in life insurance underwriting and was a Charter Life Underwriter and Registered Health Underwriter. He was also a member of the Madison Heights Senior Citizens Center and was an avid bowler, golfer and swimmer. Mr. Raschke is survived by his son, Arthur (Linda) Raschke; grandchildren Jenna L. Raschke, Michael G. (Alissa L. Spencer) Raschke, Jacqueline M. (John) McDermott; great-granddaughter Macy Lyn McDermott; sister Evelyn Rugger of Clearwater, Fla.; brother- and sister-in-law Wally and Jenny Grugel of Chesterfield Township; and many great-nephews, great-grandnephews, nieces, great-nieces, and great-grandnieces. Mr. Raschke was predeceased in 1999 by his wife of 52 years, Doris M. (Gugel) Raschke. A private family memorial service will be held. Interment will be at the Cadillac Memorial Cemetery in Clinton Township. Arrangements by Pixley Funeral Home, Rochester.
