Celestine Dow Johnson Jr., 79, a lifelong resident of Clawson, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at home in the comfort of his family. He was born June 3,1928, in Royal Oak. Mr. Johnson enjoyed carpentry work, making toys, cabinets and games . He was a U.S. Marine Corps instructor and veteran, serving during the Korean War. A machine builder for Atlas Corporation Assembly Systems, Auburn Hills, he was also a member and former trustee of the Clawson Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a member of the American Legion. Surviving are his wife; Evelyn Irene Fielding, whom he wed Dec. 23, 1953, at Clawson United Methodist Church, Clawson; children, Janis (Larry) Hansen, Craig (Gail) Johnson and Faye (Marty) Berry; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and sisters, Virginia (Vern) Hamilton, Bonnie Brown and Jo Ann Black.
