Dorothy D. McFarland, 82, of Warren since 1996, formerly of Royal Oak for more than 30 years, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at St. Anthony Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Fyffe, Ala. Mrs. McFarland was a great cook. Her life was her family and she was a faithful and committed wife and mother. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard, on May 29, 2001. The couple wed Sept. 9, 1943, in Rising Fawn, Ga. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca Wilson, and siblings Robert Harris and Terry Harris. Surviving are her children, Peggy McFarland of Tennessee, Vicki (Kenneth) Mooney of Warren; Richard B. McFarland Jr. of Florida, Nancy (the late Walter) Rowan of Warren; Jerry (Adriana) McFarland of Texas, Gregory (Angie) McFarland of South Carolina and Christopher (Jeanette) McFarland of West Bloomfield; sisters, Bonnie Teague of Mayville and Sarah Sibert of Alabama; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
