Sylvia Johnson, 85, of Gaylord, formerly of Royal Oak, died March 6, 2008, at Aspen Ridge, Gaylord. She was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Royal Oak. Mrs. Johnson graduated from Royal Oak High School. She and her husband owned Billings Feed & Pet Supply Store from 1959 until 1987. She moved to Gaylord in 1986, where she was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, the Altar Guild and the Gaylord Country Club. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed bowling and golf. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her children, Barb (Bill) Brown of Gaylord, Rick (Mandy) Johnson of Bloomfield Hills, Joyce (Arthur) Butcher of Gaylord, and Kathy (George) Baalerud of Washington; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Pamela Burkett of Troy. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry, whom she married April 4, 1942; and her brothers, Gordon Thorpe and Gerald Thorpe. Visitations Saturday, 12:30-3 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home and 3:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. funeral service at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Gaylord.
