Ellis E. Cowles, 75, a lifelong resident of Berkley, died March 6, 2008, at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. He was born March 8, 1932, in Edinburg, Ind. Mr. Cowles served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the City of Southfield in 1992 after 27 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Audrey, whom he married March 9, 1957; his children, Ron Cowles of Warren, and Teresa Sullivan of Gibraltar; his siblings, Chuck Cowles of Midland, Carolyn Dix of Fowlerville, and Alice Mae Nitz of Livonia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation Sunday, 2-9 p.m., and funeral service Monday, 11 a.m., will be at Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 W.12 Mile, Berkley. Burial will be at Roseland Park Cemetery.
