Rosemary Bridget Gilbert, 71, of Royal Oak, died of cancer Feb. 26, 2008, in Highland Park. She was born Dec. 24, 1936. Mrs. Gilbert graduatedfrom St. Cecelia School in 1953. She worked as a secretary and homemaker. A longtime member of National Shrine of the Little Flower, she was active in various church committees. She enjoyed visiting Ireland, gardening, golf and bowling. Mrs. Gilbert lived in Royal Oak for 42 years. Mrs. Gilbert is survived by George R. "Richard" Gilbert her husband of 50 years; children, Maureen, Kristen (Michael) Krzystowczyk, Susan Johnson, Elizabeth (Brian) Chihak, Mark (Barbara), Thomas (Christine) and John (Andrea); and 17 grandchildren. Visitation, Friday, 2-8 p.m., and rosary, 7 p.m., will be at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 11 a.m., at National Shrine of the Little Flower, Royal Oak. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
