Robert Lewis Spanke, 66, of Wyandotte, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at home. He was born Feb. 13,1942, in Highland Park. Mr. Spanke was retired from River Rouge Public Schools, where he taught elementary special education as well as various subjects in the high school and belonged to the River Rouge Education Association (teachers' union). He held bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Eastern Michigan University. He also liked to travel. Surviving are his brother, Thomas Avery, a niece, a nephew, and several cousins, aunts, and uncles.
