Harold A. Roper, 92, of Royal Oak, died Jan. 28, 2008, at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital, Pontiac. He was born Oct. 10, 1915, in Highland Park. Mr. Roper married Lucille M. (Gates) Roper on May 23, 1942, at National Shrine of the Little Flower. Royal Oak. He owned Accurate Roll Tool & Die shop in Madison Heights for 10 years. Mr. Roper was a member of the Bishop Gallagher Knights of Columbus Council 2569 and was an avid golfer and fisherman. Mr. Roper is survived by his wife, Lucille; children, Deborah Heikkinen of Royal Oak and Michael (Louise) Roper of Chicago; brothers, Donald Roper of Brecksville, Ohio, and Paul Roper of Port Sanilac; grandchildren, Sandra Heikkinen and Michael (Meghan) Heikkinen; and great-grandchildren, Kendal and Delaney. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. scripture service at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W.11 Mile Road, Royal Oak. Mr. Roper will lie in state Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until a 10 a.m. Mass is celebrated at National Shrine of the Little Flower, Royal Oak. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
