Ernest L. Gryka, 79, of Royal Oak since 1966, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. He was born June 17, 1928, in Detroit. Mr. Gryka retired from Erb Lumber after 31 years of employment. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 253. Mr. Gryka liked to bowl, shoot pool, play golf and was in a pinochle group for 45 years. He loved to make stained glass and was very good at art. He also had a great sense of humor. He was predeceased by siblings, Anthony Gryka and Kenneth Gryka. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Gryka, whom he wed June 7, 1958, at St. Angela Catholic Church, Roseville; children, Cindy Koykka of Clinton Township, Patti (David) Hoose of Troy, and Nancy (Chris) Hazelton of Waterford; and grandchildren, Jarrett and Lindsey. Visitation, 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Wm.
