Edward T. O'Neill age 92 a resident of Royal Oak since 1950 died September 9 2011 at his home. He was born November 30 1918 in Laurium Mich. to the late Edward and Ellen O'Neill. Mr. O'Neill served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired from the Chrysler Corporation in 1980 after 24 years of service. He enjoyed traveling and reading and was an avid visitor of the Royal Oak Public Library. He is survived by his wife Rita E. (Crawford) O'Neill. The couple married May 30 1947 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Detroit. Also survived by children Kathleen O'Neill of Royal Oak Timothy (Diane) O'Neill of Grosse Pointe Farms Mary Ellen (James) Cassady of Royal Oak Margaret (the late William) Fitzgerald of Grosse Pointe Farms Barbara (Clair) Hoehn of Grosse Pointe and Maureen (Timothy) Kapala of Madison Heights; sisters Margaret Duggan and Kathleen Neville; 14 grandchildren and one great- granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Bishop; and brother Frank O'Neill. The visitation will be Sunday 2-8 p.m. with an evening scripture service at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home 705 W Eleven Mile Road (4 blocks E. of Woodward) Royal Oak. Mr. O'Neill will lie in state Monday 10 a.m. until the time of 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church in Royal Oak with the Rev. Edward Prus officiating.
