Ruth Gilbert, 89, of Berkley, formerly of Oak Park, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. She was born May 13,1918, to the late Herbert and Lilly Walker. Mrs. Gilbert was a devoted mother and worked until the age of 82. She found the time to work as a den leader in the scouting program. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed traveling to California to visit her family. To family, she was a very high spirited and encouraging person. She would never complain, but rather find the bright side and share a good laugh. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Gilbert, in 1967. The couple wed June 12, 1943. She is survived by her children, Bruce (Marlene) Gilbert and Nancy Gilbert; grandchildren, Leonard (Dana) Gilbert and Crash; and great-grandchildren, Rachel and Sam Gilbert.
