WRIGHT, TEDDIE ‘TED’ Dewey, age 74, passed away at his home in Shelby Township, Michigan on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 10:51 a.m. Ted is survived by his loving wife Wanda (Tuck) of 55 years. They were married in Lafayette, Tennessee on June 3, 1959. Ted is lovingly remembered by his brother Ray (partner Ken); two sons Steven Allen (Sandra) Wright, Ted (Nancy) Wright Jr. and daughter Sandra Lee (Tom) Deschamps; grandchildren Heide (Mike), Holly, Hillary (finance’ Mark), Matthew (Danielle), Amy, Mary and Lynn. He will be missed by his six beautiful and vibrant great-grandchildren Zachary Evan, Olivia Marie, Isabella Rose, Hughett Allen, Michael Teddie and Savannah Lee and longtime friend Darrell Frye. Ted was born in Lafayette, Tennessee May 14, 1940 to the late Dewey and Virgie May (Dyer) Wright. He was preceded in death by his twin Eddie; his brothers Kenny and Kyler; sisters Monie Rea and Barbara Dean. Growing up in Macon County on the Kentucky/Tennessee border, he attended school in a one room school house. He went to Indiana at the age of 14 to pick tomatoes to help support his family and in 1956 headed to Detroit to work at B & E Clutch Company rebuilding automotive, truck and industrial clutches. In 1959, he returned to Tennessee to marry his childhood sweetheart, Wanda. The newlyweds returned to Detroit and remained together until his death. Ted worked for Warrick Clutch from 1959 to 1966. He was a great mechanic and machinist and in 1966, founded Ted’s Clutch Rebuilders in the garage of his Detroit home. He later obtained a building at Grand River and Marlowe in Detroit and ran his business for the next 40 years. Ted never really retired continuing to work for Steven A. Wright, P.C. until months before his death. Ted enjoyed spending time at the casinos of Detroit, Windsor, Toledo, Cleveland and Las Vegas. In January, Ted spent a few days playing video poker in Las Vegas and thoroughly enjoyed a helicopter ride through the Grand Canyon. He was a Detroit Sports Fan with a passion for the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. He loved being active in the lives of his children, grand children and great grandchildren. Visitation Wednesday 2-9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc., 49150 Schoenherr Road (north of 22 Mile Road), Shelby Township. Instate Thursday 11:30 a.m. until noon funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 44633 Utica Road (south of Hall Road), Utica. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
