Roger P Helbling, 77, of Troy, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born Feb. 15, 1930, in Gridley, Ill. Mr. Helbling was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from General Electric after 36 years in sales. He is a member of Birmingham Masonic Lodge 44 F&AM. He was a resident of Troy since 1998 and formerly of Berkley for 31 years. He is survived by his wife, Ailene B. Helbling, whom he married September 20, 1953, in Gridley, Ill.; children, Susan (Rodney) Hasler of Escondido, Calif. and Steven (Diann) Helbling of Orion, grandson, Sean Hasler; and brothers, William Helbling of Gridley, Ill. and Robert (Leatrice) Helbling of Fisher, Ill. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas Helbling (1975); and grandson, Christopher Hasler. Services were held Saturday at SawyerFuller Funeral Home, Berkley. Interment, Roseland Park Cemetery.
