Vera Marie (Gueli) Panzica, 83, a lifelong resident of Hazel Park and parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Church, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at Cambridge East Nursing Home, after battling bonemarrow cancer. She. was born May 24, 1924, in Detroit. Mrs. Panzica was known for her love and compassion for everyone around her, for baking the best apple pies and for being willing to help wherever needed. She was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen parish, volunteering many hours to help with the church festival, funeral committee, nursing home outreach, adoration services, church cleaning team and all other church functions. She sang for many years with the church choir. Mrs. Panzica was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Sam; children, Lillian (Don) Erwin of Huntington Woods, Nick (Linda) Panzica of Ypsilanti, John (Debra) Panzica of Rochester Hills and Joseph Panzica of Hazel Park; grandchildren, Nora (John) Kolar, Valerie Erwin, Loretta (Charles) Bradfield, Nicole, Melissa and Justin Panzica; greatgrandson, Noah Kolar; brother, Nick (Gerri) Gueli and many nieces, nephews and greatnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother Vincent (Elva) Gueli. Visitation, 39 p.m. with 7 p.m. service Monday, Hoperoft Funeral Home, 23919 John R, Hazel Park; additional visitation, 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until time of funeral service, 10 a.m., with the Rev. Bede Louzon officiating; burial, White Chapel Memorial Cemetery; luncheon at church hall; memorials, St. Mary Magdalen Church.
