Vera Smith, 84, a Berkley resident for more than 50 years, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. She was born March 26, 1923, in Lititz, Pa. Mrs. Smith was the manager for 10,000 Picture Frames Co. for some 25 years. She was an avid reader and gardener who loved her family dearly. She also served our country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a WA.C. in the transportation division. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Smith, on June 19, 1996. She is survived by children, Alyce J. Smith of Royal Oak, Ronald (Patricia) Smith of Berkley; Kristine (Terrence) Callaghan of Chicago, M., Richard (Sandi) Smith of Keego Harbor, Randell (Cordia) Smith of Arlington Heights, Tenn., Nancy (Otis) Johnson of Lincoln Park, Sherri Smith of Berkley; siblings, Levi (Irene) Rohrer of Lititz, Pa., Edie (William) White of Lititz, Pa., Clinton (Barbara) Rohrer of Lititz, Pa.; grandchildren, Shawn (Gretchen) Royall, Sandra Dains, Nicole (Charles) Boyd, Jennifer Smith; greatgrandchildren, Lily, Nathan and Elon. Visitation, 57 p.m. Wednesday at SawyerFuller Funeral Home, 2125 W. 12 Mile Road, Berkley; memorial service, 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Bishop Dayton Gnau officiating; cremation, at Southern Michigan Services, Royal Oak.
