Florence Marie (Hammons) Owens, 82, a 40-year resident of Troy, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. She was born July 21, 1925, in Knox County, Ky. Mrs. Owens was a homemaker. She loved casinos, gambling, the track and bingo. She loved her family. She was predeceased by husband Parrom Owen, Jr. on June 24, 2002. The couple wed April 6, 1950, in Knox County Ky. She was also predeceased by parents Matt and Jean Hammons; and siblings, Aubry, Joyce and Kenneth Hammons. Surviving are children, Linda S. Owens of Troy, Carolyn "Katie" Owens of Hazel Park, Jackie A. Owens of Center Line, Doris Fay Owens of Iron River, Mrs. Donnie G. Johnson of Hazel Park, Judy P. Hayes of Romulus, Mary E. Lawfield of Eastpointe, Walter P Owens of St. Clair Shores; siblings, S.J. (Mary) Hammons of Barbourville, Ky., Vivian (Stan) Barowski of Brighton, Don (Faye) Hammons of Heidrick, Ky., Maud (Carl) Stock of Kalaba, Mich., Gerry (Larry) Brewer of Warren, Homer (Evelyn) Hammons of Corbin, Ky., Jane Dunning of Warren, Margaret (Troy) Callas of Ferndale, Dave (Janet) Hammons of Heidrick, Ky.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
