H. Scott Woodward, 82, of Knoxville; Tenn., died on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007. Scott was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Huron, S.D. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II, amphibious duty in the South Pacific. He graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1948. Before moving to Tennessee in 2002, Scott was a resident of Madeira Beach, Fla., for 11 years and formerly was a Royal Oak, Michigan resident for more than 25 years. Mr. Woodward was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Joan. He is survived by his six children, Vicki (John) WoodwardGlier, Mark Woodward, Catherine (Cass) Tacey, Kevin Woodward, Jane (Neal) Mellesmoen, Nancy (Bill) Doman and 15 grandchildren. Scott was a wonderful writer and left as his legacy his memoirs. He had a fantastic sense of humor, but always felt the greatest measure of his success was his 57-year marriage and his children and grandchildren. Mr. Woodward requested that there be no services held; however a celebration of his life will take place later this fall. Memorial contributions can be made to your local hospice organization.
