Alvin George Oyer, 84, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, after a fall at home. He was born Aug. 23, 1922. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Virginia (nee Kelly); a brother, Edwin; and a sister-in-law, Helen. Surviving are his children, Mary Ann Oyer, Carol Zupancic, Maureen Maurus, Frederick (Deborah) Oyer, Thomas (Kathleen) Oyer, Rosemarie (Cecil) Gauthier, Kathleen (Albert) Grenier, Ernest Oyer and his fiancee, Debbie Kniffen; grandchildren, Cathleen (Dan) Wilber, Carl (Denise) Martin, Gregory Martin, Angela Maurus, Monica (Derek) Drain, Jeanette (Glen) Stidham, Cristine Oyer, James Oyer, Ryan (Amber) Oyer, Erin Oyer, Cynthia Gauthier, Jeremy Grenier, Michelle Grenier and Brandon Oyer; great-grandchildren, Samantha Wilber, Mikayla Martin, Joseph Maurus, Madison Drain, Glen Stidham Jr. and Marie Stidham; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Hazel Oyer, Marguerite Kelly, Albert Glass, Mildred Kelly, James and Sandy Kelly and Ernest Kelly; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and close friends of the family, Jacklyn Douglas and Autumn. Our parents are together forever with God and their dearly departed relatives. Visitation, 3-9 p.m. today at Charles R. Step Funeral Home, 18425 Beech Daly Road; in state, 9:30 a.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Mass at St. Catherine of Siena, 23450 W. Davison; interment, Detroit Memorial Park West; memorials, Red Cross or Capuchins.
