Barry L. Tallent, 50, a 14-year resident of Royal Oak, formerly of Rochester Hills, died July 5, 2007. in Chile, South America. He was born Sept. 8, 1956, in Mount Clemens, Mich. Mr. Tallent was a 1974 graduate of Hazel Park High School where he was on the Varsity Track Team. He was a 1979 graduate of Ferris State College, where he holds the current record for the high jump. He earned his master's degree in education administration at Wayne State University. He was a current teacher in the Dearborn Public School System where he has worked for the past 25 years, most recently at Clara B. Ford School. He formerly taught at Cooley High School in Detroit. Barry was also a devoted teacher to troubled and emotionally impaired teenagers. He enjoyed photography, travel, running and hiking. He was a "true adventurer." He was the beloved father of John-Paul; loving friend of Ann DeGraw; and former husband of Joyce Backus (Jason). He is also survived by many loving friends throughout the world.
