CLAYTON, JOSEPH S., age 23, resided in Sarasota, Fla., passed away Monday, March 9, 2015. Joe was born March 22, 1991, in Dearborn, Mich., the son of Theresa (Ruhlman) Bucy and the late Michael Clayton. Joseph grew up in Ferndale, Mich where he was and is still loved by many. BMX biking with friends was among his favorite things to do. Joe also loved music and, in particular, drums. Joseph briefly lived in Illinois where he was a graduate of Batavia High School, Class of 2009. His talent for welding caught the attention of his teachers, earning him a coveted apprenticeship. The downturn in the economy prevented that opportunity from coming to fruition. Taking advantage of another opportunity, Joe landed a job in Florida where he attended State College of Florida. He exercised his love for all things mechanical through his work at Casa Mar on Siesta Key, as well as recreationally with bikes, cars, and guns. His admirable work ethic was apparent to all who knew him. He never met a stranger and often shared what he had with those around him. He was loved and highly regarded by the annual visitors to Casa Mar. Joe also had an enduring love for the Detroit area and his Michigan family and friends. His absence from there made his love grow even fonder, so he was working on plans to return to Michigan. Joseph is survived by his mother and stepfather, Theresa and Ted Bucy of Batavia, Ill.; his brother Paul Clayton, sister and brother-in-law, Colleen and Dave Schmidt; and nephew Will all of Berkley, Mich, and stepbrother Nicholas Bucy of Batavia, Ill. Joe is also survived by his much beloved grandfather, Joseph Ruhlman of Milford, Mich; aunts and uncles, Steven (Lynette) Ruhlman, Mary Jean (Pat) McRoberts, Dennis (Sherry) Ruhlman, Dorothy (Tony) Smith, Colleen (Jamie) Smith, all of Michigan; Ray Graham and Nita Reich of Arizona. Also surviving are step aunts and uncles, Bill (Donna) Williams, Tim (Cindy) Bucy, and Bettelu LaDuke, all of Kentucky. Joe was loved and survived by many cousins near and far, namely Amy, Beth, Jean, Emily, Peyton, Jack, Luke, Sara, Ben, Emma, Jack, Charlie, Sophie, Joshua, Joshua, Amber, Autumn, Lindsey, Melissa, David, Lee Anne, Jeff, Adam, Sarah and Jane, several of them with spouses and children. Joseph is preceded in death by his father Michael Clayton; grandmothers, Jean Ruhlman and Jeanne Reich; great-grandmother Dorothy ‘Granny’ Ruhlman; cousin Scott Ruhlman; step brother Nathan Bucy; and uncle ‘Butch’ Reich.
