Elizabeth "Betty" Florence LeAnnais died at age 86 on Tuesday December 21 2010 in her home after suffering with Alzheimer for 8 years. She has lived her life preparing for her return home to God. Born on July 28 1924 in Detroit Betty lived all her life on W. Troy Street in Ferndale. Her parents Gordon and Elsie Thomas lived four houses away where she grew up with her sisters Shirley and Joan; and brother Glenn who died at age 25. She loved her home being in her yard and extended her gracious smile and huge heart to neighbors and strangers who passed by. Married at St. James Church in 1948 to Bernie LeAnnais the love of her life for 42 wonderful years before he died in 1990. Betty lived for her family; they were the essence of her soul. Betty will be remembered by her smile. She is survived by her children Lynn Beth David Elaine and Jeanette; and grandchildren April Tom Kate Bill Jill Alex Mary Colin Andrew Liz and Audrey and DJ who died September 17 2009.
