The Rev. Dr. Barton Wilson DeMerchant of Bloomfield Township died December 3 2010 in Waterford Mich. He was born April 23 1935 in Royal Oak. Beloved husband of Janet Moffat DeMerchant; father of Paul Barton DeMerchant of Kansas City Mo.; step-father of Robert (Susan) Tomsett Jr. of Madison Heights and Duncan (Wendy) Tomsett of Dearborn Heights; grandfather of five; brother of David DeMerchant of Traverse City and Jean K. Warren of Peoria Ariz. Also survived by several nieces nephews; cousins; his former wife Jean Roytek DeMerchant of Kansas City Mo.; and his two devoted Bichons Obadiah and Nikkodemus. Visitation on Friday December 10th from 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Wessels and Wilk Funeral Home 23690 Woodward Avenue Pleasant Ridge. In state 9 a.m. Saturday December 11th until funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church 13500 Oak Park Blvd. Oak Park. Donations may be made to The Good Samaritan Fund of Canterbury on the Lake; the Fr. Solanus Casey Center; or the Beth Moffat Memorial Scholarship Fund; envelopes will be available.
